Snowcat Triple

Reports and photos are circulating on social media about a lift incident at Wildcat today.

Snowcat Triple

According to various posts, a chair reportedly fell off the Snowcat Triple just uphill from the base terminal. At 1:30 PM, Wildcat announced the lift would be closed for the rest of the day "for maintenance." As of Sunday evening, the lift is listed as closed on the area's snow report.

The Snowcat Triple is the oldest lift at Wildcat, installed at the area by Riblet in 1974-75. The lift serves lower mountain beginner terrain. Unlike traditional chairlifts with "clamp" grips, Riblet grips are "woven" into the haul rope.

Vail Resorts recently took a lift of a similar age at Attitash out of service.

UPDATE: According to LiftBlog, one guest was transported to the hospital.
