The last original Carlevaro & Savio chairlift in New England is coming down, as Pico has announced the decommissioning of the Outpost Double.

Installed in 1969, the 509 vertical foot lift serves a small expert terrain pod. The lift suffered a main drive shaft failure earlier this year, leaving the resort to conclude a repair would not be feasible due to availability of parts.

Pico decommissioned its other Italian Carlevaro & Savio chairlift last year.

Due to permitting and and equipment lead times, Pico does not expect to have a replacement lift in place for next season. According to a Facebook post, a rope tow could be considered for temporary access. Some terrain can also be accessed via a slight uphill route from the nearby Prospector trail.

With the removal of the Outpost, the last mostly-original Carlevaro & Savio lift remains in place at Nashoba Valley in Massachusetts.
