In a brief interview posted on the Kevin's Rope Tow Facebook page, Mikey Lacroix announced that Ski Ward will be installing a "brand new" T-Bar next year.
Located in Shrewsbury near Worcester, Ski Ward debuted as a rope tow area circa the late 1930s or early 1940s. A top-to-bottom Mueller T-Bar was installed for the 1965-66 season, climbing 180 vertical feet. A refurbished Mueller double chair was installed adjacent to the T-Bar in 1983, becoming a Partek triple twenty years later.
According to the interview, the new lift will be installed on the eastern side of the hill, providing better access to the Snow Day and East Bowl trails. The old Mueller T-Bar would be removed, opening up more space in the base area.
The LaCroix family has owned the ski area since 1990. John LaCroix's son Mikey is an accomplished competitive snowboarder, earning a spot on the US Ski and Snowboard Team.
The area has made regional headlines in recent years with the installation of a Latitude 90 L60 snowmaker, which allows it to open a small magic carpet slope starting in October.
