Bolton Valley founder Ralph DesLauriers has passed away at the age of 90.
DesLauriers and his father Roland acquired thousands of acre of land and formed the Bolton Valley Corporation in the mid-1960s, opening a 963 vertical foot ski area on Christmas Eve of 1966. Additional trails and lifts were added in subsequent years until DesLauriers' ownership tenure ended in 1997 due to financial troubles. DesLauriers' sons Rob and Eric became accomplished extreme skiers, appearing in Warren Miller films.
DesLauriers and his children reacquired the area with a group of investors twenty years later. DesLauriers was inducted into the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2022. His daughter Lindsay serves as president and CEO of Bolton Valley.
