Northstar Double at Mt. Southington
Lost Valley is set to receive its third chairlift this summer, as it has announced it will be installing the former Northstar Double from Mt. Southington.
The former Lost Valley T-Bar
The chairlift will be installed on the Coyote trail, which was previously a T-Bar line. A 1,200 foot long JW Penney T-Bar was installed in that location in 1962, likely operating until the mid-2000s. The complex consists of three advanced trails which will be augmented with snowmaking and lights to provide additional space for racing and terrain park features.
Installed at Mt. Southington in 2001, the Northstar Double was originally installed by Hall at Craigmeur, New Jersey in 1976. The lift was removed from the Connecticut area last summer to make way for a new Partek triple.
Located in Auburn, Maine, 240 vertical foot Lost Valley has been in operation since the 1961-62 season. The area was rescued from a dire financial situation 2015, when Aerial NDT Inspection, Inc. President Scott Shanaman acquired it. The small ski area was subsequently stabilized, in part through diversification of activities. The lift will be the first chairlift installed at Lost Valley since 1971.
