Longtime Berkshire East racing official Gerry Seibert passed away on May 15, 2023. He was 87.
A native of Greenfield, Massachusetts, Seibert competed in local ski events while attending Greenfield public schools. He also served as president of the Edelweiss Junior Ski Club and was involved with Indian Park ski area near the Greenfield/Shelburne town line.

Seibert then served as ski patrol director at Mohawk Skiway. When Mohawk Skiway was expanded to become Mt. Mohawk, Seibert assisted with the cutting of new trails installation of two Mueller ski lifts and was later named ski school director. Seibert was also involved with the ski school at Burrington Hill in Vermont.

Seibert then embarked on a 42 year career with Berkshire East's racing department. The USSA Seibert Cup race was named in his honor.
Outside of skiing, Seibert earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Western New England College and taught math at Arms Academy in Shelburne and Mahar Regional High School in Orange.
