Ski areas have recovered from sub-par weather earlier this week and are now working to expand skiable terrain as the season's first snowstorm bears down on New England this weekend.

29 areas are planning to operate on Saturday, many of them with top to bottom terrain. Connecticut's ski season starts tomorrow, as Mohawk Mountain plans to open two trails. Many other ski areas are planning to open next week, as round-the-clock snowmaking weather moves in.
