Mt. Jefferson ski area has been sold, according to the Bangor Daily News.

The 432 vertical foot T-Bar area was sold to Ken Zimmerman, a Tewksbury, Massachusetts based owner of Bostonian Tickets. Zimmerman acquired the 160 acre ski area on January 15 and an adjacent 6 acres six days later.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Zimmerman hopes to turn the area into a year round family resort including skiing, snow tubing, camping, and concerts. The area has not yet opened this season due to its reliance upon natural snow.

Founded in 1964, Mt. Jefferson has partly or fully owned by the Delano family since the facility's inception. Family members still intend to be involved in the ski area moving forward.

The Mt. Jefferson ski area transaction is the second in Maine in recent months, following the sale of Lost Valley last fall. A sale is pending at Saddleback.
