New facility set to debut for 80th year at Wolfeboro ski area.

Base lodge construction is in progress at the Town of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire's Abenaki ski area. Following town voter approval on March 4 and an anonymous $35,000 donation, the long-planned project kicked into gear this year.

The small ski area has been served by a rope tow and tiny warming hut for an estimated 75 years. A combination of private (coordinated by Friends of Abenaki), local, and Federal funds are expected to be used to construct the new base lodge, which is slated to cost between six and seven hundred thousand dollars.

The new facility will provide alpine and cross country skiers with a kitchen, seating, and restrooms. The lodge is also expected to provide meeting and banquet space in the non-snow months.
