Sunday River made regional headlines as it fired up its snowmaking system during the early hours of Tuesday, September 22. Though the man-made dusting quickly melted, the area will likely start accumulating snow next month.

Sunday River opened last season on November 3. Its earliest opening in recent history was on October 14, 2009.
