A longtime Killington mechanic died on Saturday as a result of an injury sustained while working alone on a lift.
According to the Vermont State Police, Jeffrey K. Chalk was found "injured and unresponsive" by another employee around 4 PM on Saturday afternoon at the Skyeship Gondola North Brook midstation. Chalk reportedly fell 13 feet from a catwalk onto a concrete floor.
According to the Vermont State Police, Chalk was pronounced dead that day at Rutland Regional Medical Center at 5:33 PM.
The tragic death is the second industry fatality to occur in New England this season. A long time Nashoba Valley employee died in a maintenance accident in November.
